Mens Suits & Waistcoats Theory

In days gone by, men used to wear suits to work and these were generally made of wool to keep them warm as central heating was not in existence. Mens suits were seen as smart and no matter what place you had in society, you would wear one to make the best impression. Suit jackets were very rarely taken off unless you were a labourer. The mens three-piece suit was popular and if you watch the old Hollywood films, the men can be seen wearing them. Men were always covered up from head to toe.

Today is a different matter though, men will generally wear a suit but the jacket is almost certainly taken off as soon as they enter the office (if they wear one at all) due to the central heating. It would also be uncomfortable to be sat in a suit jacket all day, in front of a computer. What we end up with is men wearing a shirt, trousers and possibly a tie which is far from what occured in the past. This look is not the most flattering especially if the shirt is not fitted, you end up with a balloon effect and your tie has nothing to be tucked in to. This is why we think waistcoats still have a place in our workwear. Men’s waistcoats are fashionable, serve their purpose and could be the solution to your work outfit dilemma.

Don’t forget to make an effort by wearing smart shoes to work. Your snuffed leather shoes just won’t cut it. Invest in a classic pair of men’s brogues to complete your workwear.
