If it isn’t difficult enough having to choose between different shirt styles and fabrics; there is also a question mark hanging over wearing it tucked or untucked. It is an ongoing debate between men about when and where an untucked shirt is appropriate. One thing is certain; never wear a shirt untucked for a formal occasion such as a job interview as it is still seen as socially unacceptable.
Untucked shirts are often associated with chavs, with shaved hair and Burberry branded clothing but you can see untucked shirts with suits on the catwalks at the moment, a look created by designers such Louis Vuitton, but this is a fashion statement and not business attire.
As a general rule; long shirts should usually be tucked in to avoid the tunic look and shorter shirts tend to be designed to be worn untucked. However, when it comes down to it, it depends on where you are wearing your shirt and also how you feel comfortable.
